Zodiac sign calculator
The sign dates printed in magazines are approximate: the Sun changes sign at a different hour each year. If you were born within a day of a boundary, this calculator settles it by computing where the Sun actually was.
How it works
- 1.Your date, time and time zone become one instant in UTC.
- 2.We compute the Sun's ecliptic longitude at that instant and read the sign from it, so cusp birthdays are resolved correctly for your year.
- 3.You also get your Moon sign and a free first page written from your full chart.
Questions
- I was born on a cusp. Which sign am I?
- One of them, never both. The Sun is always in exactly one sign; which one depends on the year and the hour. Enter your details and the calculator tells you.
- Why do different sites give different dates?
- Because the boundary moves by up to a day from year to year. Sites that print fixed dates are rounding. This one computes.
- Is my zodiac sign the same as my Sun sign?
- Yes. 'Zodiac sign' or 'star sign' in everyday use means the sign the Sun was in at your birth.
- What else is in my chart?
- Nine more planets, each in its own sign, and the angles between them. That is what makes two people with the same sign so different.
