Moon sign calculator
The Moon changes sign every two and a half days, so your birth date alone is not enough. Enter the date, the time if you know it, and the place; we compute where the Moon actually was and read it for you.
How it works
- 1.Your date, time and time zone become one instant in UTC.
- 2.We compute the Moon's geocentric ecliptic longitude at that instant, along with the other nine planets.
- 3.You get your Moon sign, your Sun sign, the dominant element, and a free first page written from the whole chart.
Questions
- What if I don't know my birth time?
- We assume noon. The Moon moves about half a degree an hour, so the sign is still right on most days. If your Moon is near a sign boundary the page will say so.
- What does my Moon sign mean?
- The Moon describes your emotional wiring: what you need to feel safe, how you react before you think, and what you are like at home. The Sun is who you are; the Moon is how you feel about it.
- Why does the calculator ask for a place?
- Only for the time zone. A birth at 9 pm in Tokyo and 9 pm in Lisbon are nine hours apart, and the Moon moves in that time.
- Is this accurate?
- The positions come from the same planetary models astronomers use, accurate to well under a degree. The interpretation is written for your chart, not copied from a sign description.
